Starting A Business In High School
Being your own boss is slowly and gradually becoming over-rated in today’s society. With the constant exposure of “get-rich-quick” schemes utilizing the tagline “work from home”, being your own boss is increasingly seeming impossible. But even if it seems impossible, it really isn’t.
Starting a business depends on 2 core components that must be explored before officially jumping into developing the business. These 2 core components will help you leverage what your business should be about.
First, you’ll want to ask yourself “what do I enjoy doing the most?” Answering this question can be a possible lead to what kind of business you could thrive at. Do you enjoy art? Are you a professional at landscaping? Do you construct great press releases? Figure out what you enjoy the most, then implement that with your second component.
Second component is to expose the needs that your customer’s would be needing. What kind of problem is there and how can you solve it? Assume your starting a landscaping business. What is the biggest problem that many of your customer’s or client’s have? Once you grasp the problem, brainstorm how you can fix that problem.
Once you have completed exposing the 2 components, you’ll want to choose a name and advertise your business. Choose your name in a way that is short and rememberable. This’ll allow your customer’s and client’s to remember exactly who you are without having to memorize a name the length of a paragraph. Something like “Drew’s Landscaping” or “Creative Yards” are 2 potential possibilities.
Next, advertise your company using business cards or brochures. Printing out a brochure and hanging a couple on a few community bulletin boards can generate you some business. Include your business name, name and phone number on the business cards. Do the same with brochures, but when explaining your business, explain how you can solve the customer’s problems other then going on and on about your business in general.
Doing the above is a start to getting your business rolling. Of course it takes a lot more then just what I listed, but it should give you some kind of start to becoming your own boss. Don’t forget to have a parent or guardian help you out in the long run cause you’ll need them from time to time.
Benefits Of An Online Business
There are many benefits of running an online based business. The internet has opened up the door for everyone to profit with an online business. An online based business gives every person willing to put in the work the chance to make huge sums of money in a very short period. Some of the benefits to running an online based business are low start up costs, huge markets to sell to (you could potentially sell to anyone in the world who has internet access), no leasing fees since your business in the cyber world, and no reason to have and pay employees.
If you wanted to start a business normally you would need around 50 grand to start it up. Unless you had the cash you would have to go to your bank and get approved for a business loan. After you had your loan then you could start up your business. With the internet you could start an online based business for just a couple of hundred dollars.
After you received your business loan you would then have to find a place to lease for your business. You would then need to make sure you could make your monthly rent. You would need money to pay for your daily operating costs, like electricity, gas, heat and other costs you would need to operate. With your online business your operating costs can be very minimal. You just have to pay for your internet service and hosting fees if anything.
After you setup your place of operation you would then need to bring in customers. With your online business you could potentially market your business to everyone in the world. If your business is setup on a piece of land then you can only reach the people in your community. The clear advantage is having your business online.
One other clear advantage of having your business online is you do not have to pay employees. You just have to pay the people you hire to help you with running your online business. This is a major benefit since you do not have to pay for employee benefits and insurance which will save you a ton of money.
It is clear that running your business online has many benefits. In most cases running your business online can be very good for you. There are many other benefits of running an online based business, I just named a few.
Online Business – How To Ensure Your Success With An Online Business
Some online businesses have twice the profit
potential of others. You would do well to think
twice before starting an online business in a small
niche which already has a lot of competitors.
For any particular product or service, there is a
basic potential market. When this market is
serviced by several competitors, they split the
potential business amongst themselves. If
another competitor enters the market, he only
causes a further split of the potential business.
And most importantly, the entrance of a new
competitor does not increase the potential market.
Do not assume, as many new online business
operators do, that a large number of people in a
business niche mean there is a very large demand
for your products and services. All except for a
few of these businesses may be going broke.
The greatest need for a business exists when no
one is in the business niche except for the
merchant who provides the product or service to
that market. In other words, you ensure your
online business success when you find a need that
is not being met, and fill it.
Avoid a small-demand business niche or area that
has very few customers or small demands for its
products. Check the demand for your product or
service before you start your online business.
You can do this by performing an online search of
your business using keywords and phrases you
and others would use when searching on your
particular topic or business niche.
What you must always remember when starting
any type of business is keep profits foremost in
your mind. The ultimate goal of your business is
to produce profits.
Instead of starting a business in a niche with low-
profit potential, aim for big profits online by
starting an online business in a niche which has
big-profit potential.
